Looking to add my son as a dependent (single father). Does anyone know if the notarized sole custody order that I have in the home country needs to be authenticated by the Thai embassy before I submit the application? Also, I own a business in Hong Kong, I don´t really take a salary, rather dividends. Is this ok or need to provide a work contract stating the income?
I have a working contract with a company that includes my remote work. Is there any documents that need to be provided by my employer for the process to apply for dtv visa? Or is it just documents that I provide personally like the stated above?
The more documents the better.
But what kind of documents would I ask my employer to provide? Because normally from what I understand so far the employer would not necessarily need to be involved in the visa process in any kind since all information that is needed can be provided by the person that is applying for the visa.
Contract, payslips, company details.
Hello. Are Thai banks aware of DTVs? So all I need to do is bring my Passport and Visa to a bank and they’ll open an account for me? I have money in US and Indian bank accounts. How will they allow me to open an account with them? Thai cash and then after the account is open, I can transfer from my overseas accounts? The more detail the better please.
Many banks in Bangkok for example will not honor the DTV (they treat it as a tourist visa). You may need to register for a Thai Tax ID, or go to Pattaya, buy insurance, or seek an agency.
Is there anyone here who has been able to open a bank account in Bangkok with a DTV? If so, which bank was it? Many thanks, all.
It seems crucial to have a Thai bank account to live there for 5 years; if a person can't get a Thai bank account, how will they use the various day to day apps, pay rent, purchase goods and services? Do DTVs use their foreign cards and cash? That would rack up a ton of fees over time. There must be a solution for this. Can someone speak up on this matter and give some concrete information?
I know several people in the Facebook groups have used agents to get a bank account. Right now the DTV isn't able to open an account as many are being told at banks. I will use an agent to help me when I am in Thailand again.
The hardest route is to try to do it on your own. Save yourself some headache, and use a 3rd party to help you with the opening. This can cost $30 to ~$200 depending on your location, and some agencies even let you choose the bank.
More crucial than bank account is to pay tour taxes in Thailand up to 35% from your worldwide assets if you stay there more 180 days (is sum) per year.
Can anyone clarify exactly how the 180 days works? Do you receive 180 days from issue of the visa regardless of entry/exits in and out of the country? Or is it based on time spent within the country, i.e. I enter for 30 days, leave for 30 and come back and still have 150 days left?
From the date of each entry, and then you can extension once for an additional 180 days on top of the most recent entry. This resets every time you renter allowing you to be able to extension again.
Youtube account RW4U explains it thoroughly. The truth about Thailand DTV. Very positive.
So as a UK passport holder and a little bit of money as a freelance worker, i can apply for a DTV. This also allows me to take my wife with me, my wife is from Ghana so it says they are banned for a DTV, is that the case if she proves she is married to me ?
You should ask the embassy you will be applying to as this type of unique situation maybe handled differently depending on where you are applying at.
Good day! Let’s count. Everyone who applied online on DTV e-visa please like this post
What could happen if you already have a DTV but because of the government shake-up and they decide that they don't want the DTV anymore, do you think that it will still be honoured?
Big legal ramifications if they did, lots of people would be claiming reimbursements / compensation. The economy is lagging, they need foreign investment/ consumers to improve GDP in the short term. They might scrap the VISA option for new applications but they would need to honour those already received.
It's still possible they add more hoops in terms of the extension process inside of thailand as they never really established clarity on it.
You'll already have the visa stamped and issued. They can't revoke it because of government issues. Only way I think you would be denied is if you falsified something. Because once you have the visa it's valid till the expiry which is 5 years.
Then your VISA will become invalid. New rules - new laws means that all what has been before is irrelevant. And with Thai VISA or taxation this is all the time. I am visiting Thailand many years and every year they do change something. It is very frustrating.
What happens if my passport expires and needs renewing before the DTV expiry is reached, assuming an eVisa? Is there a way to update the passport information associated with the DTV?
I imagine it works like any other visa. I ran out of pages in my old passport and I had a fairly new visa. So the embassy in Bangkok processed my new visa and gave me a letter to give to immigration when I leave out of Thailand to give to IO. They just gave me a new stamp in my book when I traveled again.
i was asked to upload a file provide a brief summary of what you will do in Thailand. which kind of file do they meen?
Hi All, with this website https://thaievisa.go.th I can see I am eligible to apply from South Korea, holding Russian passport working as a freelancer. I wonder why this is not possible to apply from Thailand and which supporting documents they need if I apply from South Korea. I can only stay there for up to 2 months. Is it sufficient enough?
Do you have a Korean ARC? If so, the Embassy in Seoul will take your application. If you don't have an ARC, you can't, at least not in Seoul.
I messaged the embassy, they said foreign tourists are welcome to apply. Just need to reside in Korea during that time as this will take minimum of 4 weeks to get it. Don't know what is ARC but this is not required. People who give my post negatives - you are dumbos.
Had my DTV visa approved, it took 4 business days to turnaround, I was impressed at how efficient the embassy in London was. Soon after submitting the initial application I was asked to submit additional documents to provide evidence that I am self-employed, and have work contracts (in this case my clients) that allow me carry out my work for them remotely. What I initially provided was; Financial evidence of the 500k baht, as cash savings. I'd suggest not other assets but something that is 'liquid' and you have instant access to. A work contract between myself and one of my clients, showing rates of pay, agreed working hours and that the work can be undertaken remotely / not location dependant. Evidence of current location, my UK drivers licence with current address. A portfolio of work - My work is quite visual so a showcase of various projects carried out for current clients. 2 days after submission I was asked for additional information; Evidence of self employment, so either a tax return to the Tax Authority or letter confirming self-employed status from a registered Accountant. (I sent a copy of my tax return from the last tax year). Confirmation of job title and remote work ability from employer (In my case I asked two clients to write on company headed paper what I do for them and that I can carry out my duties for them remotely, both letters signed by directors). The application went to 'pending approval' and 1 day later was approved. The checks seemed more stringent than some web articles/ youtube videos seem to suggest so I would advise having solid evidence to call upon to back up your application.
Could you please tell me how did you provide financial evidence as cash savings? I'm trying to find information about it but its kinda empty
They will accept bank statements with your name on.
so know they know how much money you make by reading your taxes ... "awesome"

Hi there, I am a Bangladeshi citizen, currently living in Bangladesh, and work remotely with a company based in USA, where I make more amount than the minimum threshold. Am I eligible to apply for DTV? I have contacted the Royal Thai Embassy in Bangladesh (& Agencies they work with). They have told me that no instruction has been given to them regarding the visa type and thus they can not start processing it here. If this is the case, how can I apply for DTV as I can see no other options (e-visa or apply from a different country) are available for me! Please help me with the information.
Have you managed to apply yet?
Any update?
How long does the course have to be in duration of weeks for, ELIGIBLE ACTIVITIES Muay Thai Thai cuisine Education and seminars Sports Medical treatment Foreign talent Events related to art and music I am unable to find any information on eepcted course length to meet the criteria
bangkok post: Evidence must be provided, such as an appointment, a course receipt or an event ticket, but there is flexibility as to duration. "It depends on the course," Mr Naruchai said. "May be two weeks, one month, it's up to the applicant." And then if you wish to extend the 189 days at immigration, you need to provide another certificate or acceptance letter or other confirmation. Pressed on the matter, he said such documentation is required when applying for the visa and when extending the visa inside Thailand, but usually not when actually entering the country -- although, of course "like in every other country, the final decision depends on the discretion of the immigration officer. https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/general/2841457/explainer-thailands-new-visas.
I work in the cryptocurrency industry, Does proof of holding have to be in Fiat currency or can I use my Crypto holdings as verification of funds?
I would suggest to liquidate your cryptocurrency and then apply.
If you do crypto, pay attention to Thai law, Thai bans and Thai taxes on your worldwide assets!
I live in Ukraine, my contracts are with companies in the USA and Great Britain. There is a war in my country, I cannot go back there, I also cannot go to the USA and Great Britain without a visa. I currently live in Thailand Where can I apply for this visa in nearby countries
All nearby countries require proof of residence, and appear quite strict. You may get lucky.
Holders of ukrainian passports may apply for E-Visa while being in Poland and Ukraine only.
In which banks in Thailand can a Latvian citizen open an account with a DTV visa?
It will depend on the bank. Also most banks now require you to register for a tax ID.
Hello, is having proof of 500,000B a requirement to acquire the DTV visa?
Yes it is a core requirement. It does not need to be in THB
Hi, can we apply for this visa from a country you're traveling to, like Ho chi minh? Does it have to be from home country? Also, can a past holder of Thai work permit apply for this after cancelling the visa?
