Im self employed but not working for any company , am I still eligible for DTV?

Anonymous

It seems like it is more about having 500,000 THB

Chloe

Is this the cost of the visa?

james

I am currently halfway through my second year using a so-called "retirement" visa which is a year-by-year extension of my original 90-day Non-O-visa. No health insurance is not needed with this type of visa. I will wait and see what happens with this new DTV visa before trying to make a switch.

Gustav

The year by year application is not an Extension of the Original Visa once granted! It is Not a visa at all! Its just the allowance to stay! And it is the Most attracted way to stay in Thailand, but only for old people retired people, allowed to request. The DTV Visa is for Everybody, Young pöble.

Klaus-Peter

Ja schoen von den freundlichen Thailaendern. Ist man doch gewoehnt!

Klaus

Benachrichtigen Sie mich über den DTV

with this "Thai soft power" - can I pick any of courses? Are there any boundaries like how long it should be, number of hours, etc? As i can imagine musical festival participation can be 1 day, thai cooking class for few hours and so on - does it count?

Clair

I have asked the same as need to know how long a course has to be to meet the criteria. If you find out then please drop back in here!

I just applied, it was very straight forward. needed passport, photo, works contract, 500k thai bank statement and proof of home address outside of thailand.

Can you let us know when you get your approval so we can judge how long it may take? Did you apply using the E-Visa?

Jake

Few people already posted their approvals in the group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/thailandvisaadvice

Hello John, Could you please share what was the proof of home? Thanks.

Hello John, Could you please share what was the proof of home? Thanks.

Gustav

In Germany you Need a copy of your Personalausweis ID Card. Because this Document Shows your Home address. Passport dies Not Show this Info.

John

In my country we have Residency card that shows your registered address. In the UK, the driving license has your address. They might also accept utility bills under your name registered to that address, bank statement, sales purchase agreement for the property, however, these last ones are assumptions.

Melanie Sanchez

I am interested in the DTV.

papa

The official information does not mention anything about depositing the 500K in a Thai bank, which is ridiculous because a tourist normally cannot open a Thai bank account. https://www.thaievisa.go.th/visa/dtv-visa

Officially all you do is to prove you have the money sitting in a bank local or not. Provide a recent bank statement from your home county. The visa is live you could always work through the application and see what it actually asked you, you can also go a visa agent but be careful who you chose. I would stay with a law firm like Siam Legal with a strong reputation or do you DD before paying anyone.

Gustav

Can! You Need a certification is stay from your next available immigration Office. this way you can also do a thai Drivers license or by a car in Thailand

I can understand the possibility of someone seeking the digital nomad version of the visa not being able to do it from Thailand since you are basically asking to be allowed to work in Thailand when you are probably already working here. But if someone were trying to get a different version then already being in Thailand shouldn't be an issue. But will the visa process differentiate between the two versions or will it force all applicants do it from outside the country, or allow all applicants to do it from within Thailand regardless of visa type?

Gustav

You habe to stay in your Home Country and request Visa from your next Embassy of Consulat

Anonymous

Can I apply for the digital nomad version while already in Thailand?

Anonymous

So nobody knows, right? Have someone contacted their embassy with that question?

Gustav

No!

Anonymous

it's out. and the website is down probably because of overwhelming demand.

Chloe

Hello can you take a dependant with you? E.g my 3 year old daughter

Hilde F. Hoel

Yes please I would like this information

Anonymous

hey there. I try to understand. Should I show 500k THB on the bank account or 1500k THB if I have a spouse and a child?

papa

It is not in a Thai bank, please read the official information https://www.thaievisa.go.th/visa/dtv-visa Note: As a tourist opening a bank account in Thailand is a very complicated thing (same as another country in the world), normally banks do not open accounts to tourists (and it makes sense), so why a tourist would need a bank account?

Papá Fernandes

How you can have 500.000thb in a thai bank if you are a tourist? ridiculous!!

Maksym

why it should be in thai bank if you can apply only outside of Thailand?

Anonymous

you can get a law firm or visa agent to help with that many of them offer that service

Anonymous

you can just show eu or usd is ok

james

I opened a bank account many years ago as a tourist, at Bangkok Bank, Phuket.

Anonymous

Any bank in the world as long as it has the equivelant of 500k baht.

The 6-Month extention is confusing, as that too is 10k THB. Is it true that the extention changes the durtation of your stay to 360 days for each and every visit? -> Say I enter Thailand on a DTV -> Stay for 6 months -> Then extend and stay for an additional 6 months -> Then leave the conutry for a week -> Then re-enter Thailand. Now, am I allowed to stay for 360 days?

Anonymous

Technically you could leave the country and come back in. We still do not know for sure how many 180 periods you can have for this visa, but you could do the 180 then do a visa run and come back on the 60 day and then get a 30 day ext and then do your second visa run and get another 60 days. save the other 180 for year 2, but that is only if you cannot renew the visa or the 180 days yearly.

Anonymous

Yes allowed 360 days get out to other country and visa resets again

Anonymous

Very interested in dtv please

Anonymous

Any thoughts on if you will be able to apply for the DTV (remote worker) from in Thailand?

Jake

It appears that this will not be possible. You can only extend the DTV in Thailand, the application must be done outside of Thailand. Possibly your home country... who knows

Anonymous

In general can on go to Vietnam or Cambodia and apply for a visa, or in general do you have to do it from your home country?

Anonymous

They have explained this yet

Do you take from the article that the DTV Visa will be available starting on Monday? Also, the 60 days for visa exempt entry will start on the 15th also?
