Works for me as I only want to spend 6 months in Asia if I stay longer outside the uk I pay capital gains on assets I own.

Anonymous

You are ok with transferring 500,000 THB?!

Will the visa sticker say 'Tourist Visa'? I need my home insurance to get coverage. The visa must be categorized as a tourist visa for my home country insurance to provide coverage in Thailand.

Anonymous

Will most likely not say Tourist Visa

Anonymous

Hmm what about taxes if you work from Thailand ?

Anonymous

I found this resource[0] saying 180 days per visit. Maybe details getting wrong in translation: Introducing the new Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) for long-term travel, “digital nomads,” and participants >in certain cultural activities, with a period of stay up to 180 days per visit, on a multiple-entry basis within 5 >years; 0: http://thailand.prd.go.th/en/content/category/detail/id/48/iid/293120

This is helpful. This strengthens the idea that you will be able to border bounce and get 180 day stamps possibly without a limit. It also states that its one of the FIVE short term items they are gunning for so it means this may be available sooner rather than later.

A digital savings account with a deposit of around EUR 13,000 (around THB 500,000) should be sufficient and not a major handicap for most digital nomads. I understand the visa's validity of 5 years to be the maximum. If, for example, I have already used up 180 days + possible extension, I will probably be able to apply for a new visa.

Anonymous

Is this multiple entries? Example , I can go to nearby countries or to my own country and can return back any time I want?

Anonymous

I hope so. Not clear yet.

live in thailand for 1 year for 20,000 baht

Pomscott R.

Can you share the details about how to extend the visa? 180 days can extend 180 days more with 10K , so total one year stay in Thailand is possible? Address proven? This is difficult because we don’t stay too long in the same period.

Anonymous

Seems like you can only do that once

Anonymous

Seems like you can only extend once within the 5 years ie staying in Thailand for 360 days. With that in mind, it will mean that after every 180 days within the 5 year period, you will have to leave Thailand and return for the next 180 days.

Anonymous

Read the article above, you can get your 180 days multiple times in the 5 years. You get an extension in the country only once though, and it costs 10k.

Anonymous

Damn it seems you can only stay up to a year on this visa.

Anonymous

Stop making it difficult to stay in Thailand. We have money!! Give 180 day tourist visa!! Will make Thailand $$$$$$$

Max Jayaz

thanks for information

Anonymous

Seems like this will be a go, my only worry is they will make us pay taxes on the money being moved into Thailand 🥲

Ed

Good job I knew eventually things will start getting back to normal. Money talks BS walks does anybody know if this new Visa DTV is only for nomads or for expats as well?

Anonymous

It's looking like a pretty general purpose visa, and the main requirement is just banked money similar to the requirement visa. Things can change, but this is what it looks like.

Anonymous

Anonymous

Noch ist unklar, wie das funktionieren soll

Anonymous

Surely they will accept historic proof of income rather than make you keep 500k in balance for no reason.

Anonymous

It looks like they want to do it like the retirement visa

Anonymous

WTF, who the hell has 500k thb to lockup

Anonymous

If they didn't have this rule, this would just become the illegal worker visa. Need to keep the plebs out! 500k isn't much for freelancers paying tax in their home country. They'll have most of it in their tax savings account. I will anyway.

Anonymous

500K THB is chump change.

Anonymous

This is a great option, fucking wish they had this before i got my elite

Anonymous

Ouch!

Anonymous

Does this mean I can keep bouncing in and out once a year, and then extension for another 6 months each time?

Anonymous

I worry about taxes, this could end up costing a lot

Anonymous

Nowhere has been clear on this so far. But if not, I don't see the point of the 5 year validity.

Anonymous

No its single entry and you can only get 1 extension for 6 months, maximum 1 year in thailand

You're dumb

You're reading comprehension needs some work, sport.

Anonymous

Wow this is great! Finally!!!!
