- Copy of passports or ID of mother and father/legal guardian.
- Original letter of notarized consent for the minor to travel abroad from mother and father/legal guardian if the applicant is travelling alone.
General Additional Requirements
- Self supporting applicants must be at least 20 years old.
- You must not have a history of long overstays with Thai immigration.

DTV Visa Extension Costs
The DTV visa allows for a single extension of 180 days per entry. This extension must be requested at a Thai immigration office, with a fee that may range from ฿1,900 to ฿10,000 (yet to be confirmed). You are eligible to apply for an extension once for each DTV entry stamp.
What Is the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV)?
The Thailand Cabinet recently announced several visa promotions to enhance the country's tourism, a key industry for Thailand. One of these promotions is the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV), designed for long-term immigrant workers and digital nomads.
The DTV visa allows stays of up to 180 days with a visa issuance fee of ฿9,405 to ฿40,789 baht, valid for five years. DTV holders can extend their stay once per entry stamp for an additional 180 days with another 1,900 baht fee and may request to change the type of visa within the country.
Passport Country Restrictions
The following passport holders may not be elidgible when applying for the DTV from countries which are not their own home country. These restrictions may vary from embassy, and consulate so it is best to confirm first before applying.

The Destination Thailand Visa allows you to stay in Thailand for up to 180 days per visit, with the option to extend for an additional 180 days each time. This multiple-entry visa is valid for 5 years, providing flexibility and convenience for long-term stays.

Working in Thailand with the DTV

A digital savings account with a deposit of around EUR 13,000 (around THB 500,000) should be sufficient and not a major handicap for most digital nomads. I understand the visa's validity of 5 years to be the maximum. If, for example, I have already used up 180 days + possible extension, I will probably be able to apply for a new visa.

It is not a city in Japan. It is the Embassy of Thailand in Fukuoka, Japan. In other words, it is the representation of the country of Thailand in that place. Those only count for visa exempt. If you have a visa you can bounce as many times as your visa allows.
IE if you got your DTV, bouncing is allowed (and technically needed to start the visa)

The 6-Month extention is confusing, as that too is 10k THB. Is it true that the extention changes the durtation of your stay to 360 days for each and every visit?

Technically you could leave the country and come back in. We still do not know for sure how many 180 periods you can have for this visa, but you could do the 180 then do a visa run and come back on the 60 day and then get a 30 day ext and then do your second visa run and get another 60 days. save the other 180 for year 2, but that is only if you cannot renew the visa or the 180 days yearly.

I can understand the possibility of someone seeking the digital nomad version of the visa not being able to do it from Thailand since you are basically asking to be allowed to work in Thailand when you are probably already working here. But if someone were trying to get a different version then already being in Thailand shouldn't be an issue. But will the visa process differentiate between the two versions or will it force all applicants do it from outside the country, or allow all applicants to do it from within Thailand regardless of visa type?

Officially all you do is to prove you have the money sitting in a bank local or not. Provide a recent bank statement from your home county. The visa is live you could always work through the application and see what it actually asked you, you can also go a visa agent but be careful who you chose. I would stay with a law firm like Siam Legal with a strong reputation or do you DD before paying anyone.

I am currently halfway through my second year using a so-called "retirement" visa which is a year-by-year extension of my original 90-day Non-O-visa.

The year by year application is not an Extension of the Original Visa once granted! It is Not a visa at all! Its just the allowance to stay! And it is the Most attracted way to stay in Thailand, but only for old people retired people, allowed to request. The DTV Visa is for Everybody, Young pöble.

Under remote worker. Needed an employment contract, proof of residency in my home country, proof of funds and additionally, they asked to upload flight ticket (one way into Thailand) and further proof of accomodation in Thailand.

You need to extend after 180 days. You can extend once within a year. Then you have to leave the country and then come back. within the first 180 days or the extended 180 days (extension costs 10,000), you can leave any time (as it's multi-entry visa) and when you come back, the 180 days start ticking. I assume, if you do a border run or travel away and return, that doesn't cost anything.

You can enter unlimited times as it is a multiple entry visa.

Just for information: After starting the process and paying the 350 EUR they started to ask me - an guy just employed by a big company and working in home office - for: "Company business establishment document issued by the appropriate authority of your country. If not, it must be legalized by the issuing country's embassy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs."

3. Let's say I have a contract to work for a company in the US (I'm not a US citizen).
I am very confused by the sentence "It's important to note that for the DTV, you must apply from the country where your employment is based" (btw, what does digital nomadism have to do with it then?)

Although you have the option to apply online, the last sentence is confusing. I don't know what it means by 'country where you can establish your presence'. It defeats the purpose of online application, which you are supposed to do anywhere in the world. "Another option is to apply through the Thailand e-Visa website. This convenient method allows you to complete the application online and submit your documents either by uploading them or mailing them in. Although this option is non-refundable, it is crucial to ensure that you meet the eVisa qualifications beforehand. The eVisa application must be completed from the country where you can establish your presence."

I agree this last paragraph / sentence contradicts itself. Based on the sentence, and the DTV eligibility test I just did (I said I was in Vietnam but have an Australian passport and work for Australian company) it said I was fully eligible.
Applying online and uploading all documents online should get you the approval letter you need to enter Thailand and get your DTV visa.
I guess until someone does this scenario we won't know for sure. But I can't see the harm in doing the online e-application, if you get the approval letter then simply book a flight to Thailand and see! That's what I will be doing in a few months once my ED visa expires.

I am a Bangladeshi citizen, currently living in Bangladesh, and work remotely with a company based in USA, where I make more amount than the minimum threshold. Am I eligible to apply for DTV? I have contacted the Royal Thai Embassy in Bangladesh (& Agencies they work with). They have told me that no instruction has been given to them regarding the visa type and thus they can not start processing it here.

Had my DTV visa approved, it took 4 business days to turnaround, I was impressed at how efficient the embassy in London was. Soon after submitting the initial application I was asked to submit additional documents to provide evidence that I am self-employed, and have work contracts (in this case my clients) that allow me carry out my work for them remotely.
What I initially provided was;
- Financial evidence of the 500k baht, as cash savings. I'd suggest not other assets but something that is 'liquid' and you have instant access to.
- A work contract between myself and one of my clients, showing rates of pay, agreed working hours and that the work can be undertaken remotely / not location dependant.
- Evidence of current location, my UK drivers licence with current address.
- A portfolio of work - My work is quite visual so a showcase of various projects carried out for current clients.
2 days after submission I was asked for additional information;

What I initially provided was;

- A work contract between myself and one of my clients, showing rates of pay, agreed working hours and that the work can be undertaken remotely / not location dependant.

- A portfolio of work - My work is quite visual so a showcase of various projects carried out for current clients.

Do you have a Korean ARC? If so, the Embassy in Seoul will take your application. If you don't have an ARC, you can't, at least not in Seoul.

I messaged the embassy, they said foreign tourists are welcome to apply. Just need to reside in Korea during that time as this will take minimum of 4 weeks to get it. Don't know what is ARC but this is not required. People who give my post negatives - you are dumbos.

I imagine it works like any other visa. I ran out of pages in my old passport and I had a fairly new visa. So the embassy in Bangkok processed my new visa and gave me a letter to give to immigration when I leave out of Thailand to give to IO.

Big legal ramifications if they did, lots of people would be claiming reimbursements / compensation. The economy is lagging, they need foreign investment/ consumers to improve GDP in the short term. They might scrap the VISA option for new applications but they would need to honour those already received.

You'll already have the visa stamped and issued. They can't revoke it because of government issues. Only way I think you would be denied is if you falsified something. Because once you have the visa it's valid till the expiry which is 5 years.

So as a UK passport holder and a little bit of money as a freelance worker, i can apply for a DTV. This also allows me to take my wife with me, my wife is from Ghana so it says they are banned for a DTV, is that the case if she proves she is married to me ?

Can anyone clarify exactly how the 180 days works? Do you receive 180 days from issue of the visa regardless of entry/exits in and out of the country? Or is it based on time spent within the country, i.e. I enter for 30 days, leave for 30 and come back and still have 150 days left?

From the date of each entry, and then you can extension once for an additional 180 days on top of the most recent entry. This resets every time you renter allowing you to be able to extension again.

Are Thai banks aware of DTVs? So all I need to do is bring my Passport and Visa to a bank and they’ll open an account for me? I have money in US and Indian bank accounts. How will they allow me to open an account with them? Thai cash and then after the account is open, I can transfer from my overseas accounts? The more detail the better please.

Many banks in Bangkok for example will not honor the DTV (they treat it as a tourist visa). You may need to register for a Thai Tax ID, or go to Pattaya, buy insurance, or seek an agency.

It seems crucial to have a Thai bank account to live there for 5 years; if a person can't get a Thai bank account, how will they use the various day to day apps, pay rent, purchase goods and services? Do DTVs use their foreign cards and cash? That would rack up a ton of fees over time. There must be a solution for this. Can someone speak up on this matter and give some concrete information?

I know several people in the Facebook groups have used agents to get a bank account. Right now the DTV isn't able to open an account as many are being told at banks. I will use an agent to help me when I am in Thailand again.

The hardest route is to try to do it on your own.
Save yourself some headache, and use a 3rd party to help you with the opening.

I think the earnings part just depends on which category of the dtv you're applying for. The nomad part you have to show work contracts? Soft power part you don't have to show earnings, just the 500,00 Thai baht. Seems with your medical procedures you'd apply for soft power, so no earnings needed to show.

How do I change the passport number on a visa? Because the visa you get is correlated with your first name + last name + passport number. I plan to get a 5-year visa (to Thailand) but my passport is only valid for less than 3 years. So I will have to change it sooner than the visa expires. There is no form on the evisa website to change the passport number. Has anyone tried to get this done?

Who told you that Iraq has difficult conditions and is not included in the application? I have an Iraqi person who obtained a visa from the Jordanian embassy and they asked him for normal papers like other nationalities. I am living in Germany and have a remote contract with the company I am working for. Also I am studying in my masters remotely fulltime. I want to apply for the DTV Visa and have all necessary documents available. Since I will be in thailand less than 180 days I don't have to pay taxes. This just in: I confirmed that as an American I can apply for the DTV Visa at the Thai consulate in Ho Chi Minh. This is the email response I got.
They said:
“Dear Sir/Madam,
With regard to your inquiries, U.S. citizens can apply for the Destination Thailand visa (DTV) at the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Ho Chi Minh City.
Best regards,”
They also noted:
“Nationals of Certain Countries are required to apply for a visa ONLY at Thai Embassy or Consulate-General in their home/residence country. However, those who are residing in Vietnam and holding The Vietnamese Residence Card are able to apply for a visa at the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Ho Chi Minh City by providing a copy of the Vietnamese residence card with legalization stamp from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Foreign Affairs.”

I am a bit disapointed!!! I applied from Germany for DTV for Remote Work. I added my english working contract and the other documents they ask in the webside. Each document must not be larger than 3 MB. There was no chance to add aditional documents like my remote work agreement with my company. After 2 days i got a mail "visa application has been cancelled" without any information why. I payed 350 euros for what? i am currently thinking about to give this job to my lawyer in bangkok or just go there on holiday

Update to my last comment. The visa was canceled because the day of issue on my passport wasn't set correctly. The calendar dropdown field should be changed in a field to type in the date. I applied again now

Yes you should be able to do this, but you would need to stay in that country for the amount of time it takes to get it approved. In some countries this can range from 3 business days to weeks.
